Who gets to change the commission on a deal? Who gets to approve the numbers before closing? And why can one agent see everybody’s payment details while another sees practically nothing?

These aren’t theoretical questions in Real reZEN. They’re actual settings inside ProTeams, and the team leader has a remarkable amount of influence over how they work.

I spent some time digging into Real’s documentation on transaction permissions, and one thing became obvious: two agents working under the same brokerage can have very different experiences depending on how their team is configured.

Not because they have different versions of reZEN. Because someone decided who should be allowed to do what.

Your Deal Doesn’t Necessarily Mean Your Rules

ProTeams separates two permissions that sound similar but have very different consequences.

Permitted Transaction Editors determines who can modify the financial details of a transaction. We’re talking sale price, commission splits, additional fees, and rebates.

Commission Document Approver determines who can approve the commission calculation and send the document required for closing.

For both settings, Real offers three choices: Team Leader, Team Leader and Admins, or Any Team Member.

Think about that for a second.

A team can let agents edit their own transactions while reserving final commission approval for leadership.

That’s actually a reasonable arrangement. Agents need flexibility when negotiations change, but the team leader may want to verify that the agreed split hasn’t mysteriously changed before closing.

There’s a downside, though.

If the team leader is the only person authorized to approve commission documents, every relevant transaction depends on that person’s availability.

Real explicitly warns leaders to review transactions promptly because approval is required before the file can proceed toward closing.

A little control is useful. Turning yourself into the bottleneck for an entire team? Less impressive.

The Payment Visibility Setting Is Even More Interesting

Buried in ProTeams is a setting called:

Allow Teammate to See Others’ Payment Details

Turn it off, and ordinary team members can lose access to the commission breakdowns belonging to other participants.

They also lose access to the commission document itself and won’t receive its emailed copy.

That’s a substantial change in visibility.

The team leader still sees everyone’s payment details. Administrators and transaction coordinators can retain broad visibility when their permissions allow it.

There’s also an exception for the transaction owner, who can still see gross and net payouts for other participants, although not their detailed splits and fees.

So this isn’t a universal privacy switch that hides everything from everybody.

And there’s another catch: Real says the transaction editor and commission approver settings must also be restricted to leadership or leadership plus admins for the payment-hiding feature to work as intended.

One privacy toggle isn’t enough if the other permissions still expose the documents.

That’s exactly the kind of detail I’d want explained before somebody assumes their financial information is private.

The Transaction Coordinator Is No Longer Just an Email Address

Real has also developed a more involved Transaction Coordinator experience inside reZEN.

Team leaders can connect TCs directly through ProTeams, assign permission levels, and control whether they can approve commission calculations or view historical transactions.

Some coordinators can work with multiple agents and teams from their own reZEN profile.

That’s a much better arrangement than passing documents around through disconnected accounts.

But the permission differences matter.

Historical deal access, for example, can expose closed transactions that existed before a coordinator joined the team. Real makes that access dependent on the team leader’s configuration
